A Year in Pictures - 2011

Happy July!

Six months down, six months to go in 2012.  And in honor of the year being half over, I thought I'd share this little gem that I found sitting unfinished in my "Drafts."  It's a recap of 2011.  Yup, just posting it six months late.  Better late than never, right?!

I never thought 2011 would top 2010 (you know with graduating from law school, moving across the country and becoming a bar certified lawyer), but I think it managed to do just that .... 
and 2012 looks like it might just top 2011.

What'd we accomplish in 2011?

JANUARY: 

I started volunteering at a legal aid clinic in Seattle

I created my Seattle Bucket List (and knocked quite a few things off the list over the year)

J. and I saw the Picasso exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum

We went home for a friend's wedding:

 And I got stuck in Indianapolis during the Icepocalypse:

FEBRUARY:

We visited Portland and Multnomah Falls:

and I started my own business!

MARCH: 

we spent a day in Port Townsend:

I went to the Taste of Washington with E. and Stevie

and we started house hunting! 

APRIL:

I made some new Seattle friends ... S2 and R!

We visited Snoqualmie Falls and had lunch in the restaurant overlooking the falls:

We went to a Mariner's game:

We drank for cystic fibrosis on the Fremont Troll Stroll:


We tried Molly Moon's ice cream for the first time!

 L.Rae came to visit and we went to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival:

and we bought our first house! 

MAY: 

We moved into our new house:

We went to Bellingham for a night with R. and Mateo

I went to the Ballard Market with Mrs. S.

J. and I went to the Norman Rockwell exhibit at the Tacoma Art Museum

We discovered Portlandia!

JUNE:

I spent two weeks in Indianapolis and saw some gorgeous sights on my way there:

J.'s brother got married:

I spent a day wine tasting with Mrs. S. and her friends from home:

JULY:

I turned 27!

We watched the fireworks in Seattle:


We did our only hike of the summer - The Oyster Dome:

and I went to the base to watch J. bounce:

and it was the last month of my life before finding out HUGE news ...

AUGUST:

I spent a week in Houston:
SUN!  We don't have that in Washington!

J. carrier qualified on the George H.W. Bush

He graduated and we found out we were moving to Japan:

AND that he was deploying in ONE week

J. left for his first deployment

my mom came to visit and we went hiking:

We treated ourselves to The Fairmont Empress

And toured Butchart Gardens

and we finished her visit with a lot of yard work!

SEPTEMBER:

I went to Bumbershoot with R.:
(I think I also discovered InstaGram in September)

R. and I visited Gas Works Park (cross that off the Seattle Bucket List!):

R., A. and I kayaked Lake Union and had tacos at Agua Verde

I made J.'s first calendar squares:

I went on a boat tour through Deception Pass with Mrs. S. and  Mrs. K13:

Miss Lucy had surgery and started her Japanese quarantine:

OCTOBER:

I went wine tasting in Yakima with R. and M.C.:

In November ... 

I worked A LOT

we celebrated M.C.'s birthday at Tilth:

and I spent Thanksgiving in Houston!

DECEMBER:

I saw The Nutcracker with Mrs. S. and D.

J. came home from his first deployment!

and we got engaged! 


When I think back to 2011, there are a lot of negative things that come to mind, but looking back on these pictures reminded me of all the good moments we had as well!

  1. Pretty wonderful year even if it was filled with ups and downs. This is a great way to see the high points. I might have to steal this next year.
